An August heat wave has struck us in the Pacific Northwest, and yesterday as we hiked we saw evidence of high summer at around 4,000 feet in the central Cascades. When we arrived at this little boggy lake near Mt. Margaret, a Cascade frog was wandering along the water margin, but quickly jumped back into the water when we approached.
