Once again, walking at Magnuson Park in the winter, I was surprised by the unexpected beauty. Yesterday the unsettled weather resulted in some dramatic skies, including this rainbow. Walking well-trodden paths can result in some dramatic revelations. I was just reading about the David Hockney show at the De Young Museum in San Francisco and I love his recent work. He's returned to his boyhood home in England and has movingly painted and sketched all the waysides and byways there. The New York Times art critic Roberta Smith wrote today about the power of this exhibit and said that art begins with nature. How true that is!
