Last week I saw this male and female merganser at the Magnuson Park wetlands, each of them in a different pond. I hadn't seen them in previous seasons and I wonder if they will now be residents here. Each month something new happens in the wetlands and it's always fascinating. Bright red dogwood twigs giving way to willow buds, birds nesting--the sun and warmth yesterday will no doubt lead to new developments. I haven't heard the frogs yet at night, but soon!
