The North Cascades Institute's graphic designer, Kiley Barbero, created this fall-inspired poster using a watercolor sketch I did of one of the Early Winters Spires in autumn--the sketch appears in my new book Colors of the West: An Artist's Guide to Nature's Palette. The poster promotes the upcoming series of writer's talks at Village Books in Bellingham. I'm honored to be in the company of these other authors, several of whose books are published, like mine, by Mountaineers Books. I'll be sharing slides and reading from Colors of the West at Village Books on Sunday, September 24 at 4pm. A note on the sketch: it was created in a class that I taught for the North Cascades Institute. Students and I took a field trip up to Washington Pass from our base at the Environmental Learning Center on Diablo Lake.
