I spent the weekend teaching a group of enthusiastic plein air painters at the North Cascades Institute's Environmental Learning Center. We spent much time on the Center's campus, but also took a field trip up to Thunder Arm, with views of Sourdough Peak. At one point, the water was so still that the reflections were glasslike. Yesterday, the air was downright golden with the glow of vine maples around the Center. Those perfect hours will be remembered by us all, during this upcoming week of rain.
